Zbigniew Lutomski was born in 1934 in Grodno. He studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and graduated in 1960. He is a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow and in Poznan. He ran the Woodcut Studios at the both Academies. He belongs to the International Woodcut Society XYLON. He was an organizer of many years of the International Print Biennial and Triennial in Cracow. He had a few dozen individual exhibitions and took part in a few hundred group ones in Poland and abroad. He won many awards and distinctions at e.g.: all-Polish Print Competition in Lodz (1969, 1973, 1979, 1981,1987), the International Print Biennial and Triennial in Cracow (1986, 1991), all-Polish Gielniak Competition in Jelenia Gora (1979, 1983). He twice won Grand Prix and I Prize at the Woodcut and Linicut Quadriennial in Olsztyn (1991, 1995, 1999). He also got the Mayor Prize at the Print Biennial in Tokyo.
The artist had three individual exhibitions in Jan Fejkiel Gallery so far. He also took part in collective shows organised by the gallery, i.a.: Jan Fejkiel Gallery Collection, The Polish Institute of Culture, Stockholm 1991; Stone, Metal, Wood, Computer ,Cracow Expo Center(1994); The Element and the Method, Galerie de la C.G.E.R. (1996, Liege), Centrum Manggha (1997, Cracow).
