Andrzej Bielawski was born in 1949. He studied at the Print Faculty of the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw (1967-73). He worked as a tutor there (1982-83). In 1991 together with his wife Teresa Starzec he founded the Atelier Foundation and the School of Drawing and Painting. He teaches there now. He deals with painting, print, drawing and photography. He presented his works on more than 20 individual shows ( among others: two monografical shows in the State Gallery Zachęta in Warsaw) in Poland and abroad and on numerous group exhibitions. He was given several scholarships : the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam (1981), the Stadt Galerie in Wolfsburg (Germany,1982), Atelierhaus in Worpswede (Germany,1985-86), George Washington University, Central and East European Foundation in Washington (USA, 1991).
